Local anaesthesia will be injected to numb the area. The keloid will then be removed, while preserving healthy tissue. In some cases, a steroid injection will be performed at the end of the procedure or alternatively next day radiotherapy to reduce the risk of recurrence. After closing the wound with sutures, a dressing is applied.

Jonathan will recommend you keep the area dry for 48 hours and at that point it can be wet in the shower. It is important to avoid heavy lifting or exercise for at least one week as it may lead to bleeding or delayed wound healing, and a poorer outcome.
Moisturising and massaging are the mainstay of post-operative scar management, while laser and micro-needling can speed up the scar maturation process.
