What is a brow lift?
A surgical brow lift procedure is performed to lift the brows and tighten the skin on the forehead. This procedure helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles, sagging skin, and drooping eyebrows, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
-
What’s the difference between a temporal brow lift and a full brow lift?
A temporal brow lift specifically targets the outer portion of the brow and is ideal for individuals who have mild to moderate sagging in this area and opens up their eyes, often in conjunction with an upper blepharoplasty. A full brow lift addresses the entire brow and is more suitable for individuals with significant sagging or drooping.
-
Why are brow lifts recommended as part of an upper blepharoplasty procedure?
Assessment of the upper eyelids must be done in conjunction with the brow as one impacts the other. A heavy or drooping brow may lead to the appearance of excess upper eyelid skin, when in fact elevation of the brow resolves the issue. In most patients with a heavy brow, a brow lift and upper blepharoplasty gives the optimal result. An upper blepharoplasty is a surgery to remove excess skin from the upper eyelids.
If the eyebrows are low or being elevated by an overactive muscle (compensated brow ptosis), not addressing these concerns during an upper blepharoplasty can result in a less desirable result with persisting heaviness of the brow and possibly the eyelid skin. By combining a brow lift with an upper blepharoplasty, a more comprehensive rejuvenation of the upper face can be achieved, addressing both the excess skin on the eyelids and the position of the eyebrows.

What happens at your first brow lift appointment?
You’ll meet Jonathan and discuss your goals and expectations for the surgery. He’ll evaluate your facial anatomy and determine if you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. He will also explain the surgical techniques involved and address any concerns or questions you may have.
-
How painful are brow lifts?
Through the use of anaesthetic and pain management techniques, a brow lift procedure is generally considered to be relatively tolerable. In conjunction with an upper blepharoplasty procedure, a temporal brow lift can be done under local anaesthetic. This means you’ll be awake during the surgery while the specific area to be treated will be numbed. A full brow lift is done under general anaesthetic or sedation.
-
How long does a brow lift take to complete?
Generally, a temporal brow lift takes about 30 to 60 minutes to complete. A full brow lift procedure may take around 1 to 2 hours.
-
What results can I expect from my brow lift and are there any risks involved?
The main goal of this surgery is to lift the brow position, resulting in a more youthful and refreshed appearance. After the procedure, patients can expect to see a noticeable improvement in the position of their eyebrows, with a more lifted and defined shape. This can help to open up the eyes and reduce the appearance of sagging or drooping skin in the brow area. Prior to the procedure, Jonathan will discuss any associated risks with you and provide guidance on how to minimise them.
